I'm always challenging my clients to be more innovative (I know, that term is overused, but hear me out). I enjoy urging my clients and you, my readers, to embrace the challenge of solving the real pains and problems our customers face.
Today, I want to share a story with you—a story that's not just about identifying a problem but about taking action to solve it. This is me practicing what I preach.
Allow me to introduce you to my latest venture: Vetted List.
My journey began with a simple observation, echoed by many of you: the struggle to find the right talent for your creative firms. The flood of unqualified resumes in response to job postings on LinkedIn, Indeed, and other sites highlighted a glaring issue. It wasn't that people with the requisite skills were shying away from agency work; the problem was visibility—getting these opportunities in front of the right eyes.
And this is the problem I'm attempting to solve with Vetted List.
Localizing Talent Acquisition
Vetted List is an email newsletter highlighting amazing career opportunities within creative businesses in the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) area. The decision to localize this service was deliberate. My goal is to foster a deeper connection and sense of community among creative talent and the businesses seeking them.
More Than Just Job Listings
This service is designed to make a difference by offering more than just job listings. I was partly inspired by something I read in the book "Made to Stick" a few years back. The Heath Brothers spoke about how local newspapers used to do a great job creating an emotional connection with their readers.
With this in mind, I created a section in the newsletter to highlight recent hirings and promotions. It's about seeing familiar names and celebrating the successes within our local creative ecosystem.
Driven by Personal Experience
The creation of Vetted List was driven by my personal experiences and the shared frustrations of many of my clients. I spoke to a good number of recent hires at agencies and heard their frustrations when looking for a new job. I've also witnessed the struggle of my clients, seeking their perfect match, only to be lost in the sea of generic job sites.
Enough was enough. Armed with a vision to bridge this gap, I am now embarking on a mission to curate a trusted source of creative job listings, specifically tailored for the DFW region. This endeavor isn't just about launching a new product; it's about leaning into my innate problem-solving capabilities and fulfilling a need within our community.
The Journey Ahead
There you have it. That's the thinking behind my latest venture.
I'll share updates along the way. I hope this real-time window into my product launch will inspire you to launch new offerings that solve your customers' pains.
I'm excited about what's to come.
